I asked about fish in cycling once, they can't recommend fishless cycling due to the chemicals we use for safety, and it someone gets if terribly wrong and puts way to much Ammonia in. ![]() They do however promote in fish cycling and don't really stick to the old number of fish per what ever, with regards to stocking. That's who I use here in NI, they are more expensive yes but one guy took about an hour out of his day to explain the set up and stocking advice, they also explained that if ever their was a problem with a fish, it not settling or me changing my mind they would take back for store credit (with in a reasonable length of time of course). ![]() They will be more expensive, MA's generally are but you'll get advice from actual fish keepers in both. One at Sanders Garden Centre near Burnham, and one at Blackdown Garden Centre near Wellington. There are a couple good Maidenhead Aquatics near you (Assuming you are using the Watermarque near North Petherton). Most decent stores will return within a reasonable period of time, what was the store? Yes I'm a muppet and will now try to research fully prior to impulse buying. If I cant return them or rehome them, then they'll stay where they are, is there anything else apart from Tetras I can have live with them? I can't see there being a happy life for everyone in my tank.Ĭan live animals be returned? Do you reckon I've any recourse with the sales chap? Does anyone want some red clawed crabs?! I'm not necessarily after a refund, but it would be nice to swap them for something else or at the very least, just take them back. He also didn't mention at any point about them needing a dry air area, all they have in my tank it the pipes going out at the top for the cylinder filter. I told the chap that sold them to me my future intentions regarding fish, community etc. I'm fairly gutted and wondering where to go from here, we had plans for loaches, a Betta and some other interesting companions for our first shot, not to mention the impending doom for all my plants! now it appears this is all going to be impossible because I got some bloody crabs! Last night I then thought I'd do some research into the crabs (Yes I know, this stage should have come first! ) Lo and behold, the news that hit me and I'm sure you're all well aware, is they're actually not ideal for community tanks, to put it mildly! Had that been it, I wouldn't be posting now, unfortunately I had what only can be described as "kiddy in a sweetstore moment" I bought 2 Red Clawed Crabs!Įveryone went into the tank and they've all seemed to settle in. Roll on yesterday.Being the impatient schoolchild I am, I pop into the local Fishstore and get myself some more Amanos because they're great creatures to observe. The Tetras are doing well with the Amanos and all is good. Last week after getting the water tested, all levels were good so we started off by adding a small shoal of Tetra Cardinals. The shrimp not only survived, but were actually quite happy so became part of the new tank and its cycling process. ![]() The rocks turned out to have some inhabitants, a few tiny Amano shrimp. I'll start from the beginning, The last few weeks I've been cycling a 190ltr Trigon tank, as well as planting it I got myself a couple of planted rocks from a well known chain pet store.
